Travel World Asia-Pacific (13-14 October 1999)
Singapore
- The second Corporate Travel World Asia-Pacific conference,
endorsed by the ACTE, was attended by 356 delegates representing
large corporations and SMEs from within and outside the Asia-Pacific
region. The event successfully dealt with major issues facing
the region's corporate buyers and received tremendous praise
from attendees.
It
featured keynote speaker, Ms Colleen Guhin and 32 other speakers
on a range of subjects including online booking technology,
negotiating with airlines in a commission-capped environment
and other useful topics specially-geared for the stage at which
the Asia-Pacific region is at in the practice of travel management.
Mr
Earl Foster, director of global travel management for Joseph
E. Seagram and sons Inc. made his comment to BTN Asia-Pacific
about the event, " CTW is driving change in Asia, and it is
very exciting to be part of it. There's a thirst for knowledge
and this is what the market needs to quench that. It had the
right speakers giving the right level of education in a market
that is ready to explode."
ACTE
was well-represented with an exhibit station and included the
newly- appointed full-time director, Europe, Middle-East and
Africa, Herman Mensink.
CTW
Asia-Pacific 1999 has made a strong impression with the corporate
community emphasising that corporate T&E; costs cannot be viewed
with an indifference. Details about CTW Asia-Pacific 2000 is
expected to be announced soon. End of release
