ACTE Reveals the Top Ten Concerns Regarding Managed Travel in China
|
Beijing, 8 November 2004 - The Association of Corporate Travel Executives
ACTE) unveiled the top-line results from the first survey conducted to
assess concerns shared by members of the business travel management
industry regarding the status of business travel management in China. The
results which were released at the executive forum on 5th November in
Beijing showed how travel managers, travel management companies and travel
suppliers ranked the major issues standing between them and good business
travel management in China. Over 130 respondents from Asia-Pacific, Europe
and North America had the opportunity to evaluate 21 issues that were
identified in roundtable sessions and one-on-one discussions by ACTE
membership.
Concerns about how government regulatory policies and legal procedures
affect business transparency ranked number 1 with 83% of respondents
assessing it as an important or very important issue.
73% of respondents expressed their concern about ability of China's GDS
environment's to offer reliable distribution of business travel products/services
to the markets making it number 2 on the list. The third issue of high concern is
the safety and security of business travellers with 70% voting it as such.
Results also highlight variances in the assessments of the three main
constituents - travel managers, travel management companies and business
travel product suppliers Ð for the same issues. While travel managers made safety
and security its top concern, travel management companies viewed IT technology supporting process automation as the most critical highest item to address while suppliers voted government regulatory and legal policies/procedures to be their main worry.
Michael Bezer, ACTE's regional chair for the Asia-Pacific region said, "In the past much
of what information the industry had was anecdotal but this study has finally given the industry something more concrete to work with. Objective data about a high priority market like China
has to be good for customers and suppliers."
The study also helped distinguish the major concerns of Asia-Pacific respondents versus those of respondents from EMEA and North America. The survey was conducted in collaboration with TravelWeekly magazine who polled their readers in Asia.
ACTE members will soon be able to view the full report of the study on ACTE's website at http://www.acte.org
