ACTE To Celebrate Historical Flight And The Birth of An Industry
(Alexandria, VA - Nov 14) A 100-year celebration of the Wright Brothers' first
flight and 15 years of travel management vision are the themes for the
Association of Corporate Travel Executives' next Global Conference, in Las
Vegas -- April 27 - 29, 2003. "We're celebrating the invention of flight,
the
subsequent invention of an international industry, and how this association
keeps that industry in step with global economics," said Mark Williams,
ACTE's president-elect.
The celebration will honor the rich history of the business travel
profession, including the contributions of the airlines, hospitality
industry, surface transportation, travel management companies, payment
systems and technology providers. "This event will extend a historical
forum
to every aspect of our membership," said Williams.
ACTE's core strength has always been education, and the Las Vegas Conference
will introduce a number of enhancements to the educational program. A change
in the seminar lineup will increase the emphasis on strategies and techniques
to enhance corporate influence for travel management executives. Serialized
educational sessions -- along with the "Ask First" program (which
allows
participants to ask their questions before arriving at the conference) --
will significantly add to participant value. The objective of this conference
is to continue to "advance the industry," an initiative introduced
last month
in Munich.
Las Vegas Conference plans include a travel management industry golf
tournament, a silent auction (to save lives through breast cancer awareness
and to elevate careers through ACTE scholarships), and the industry
celebration of the year! "The ACTE Global Conference Las Vegas will be
wrapped within a celebration designed to draw world attention to the
contributions made to global commerce by the travel industry during the last
100 years," said Williams.
"But the main event will be a heightened level of interaction between
buyers
and suppliers," Williams continued. "This conference is a celebration
of a
collaborative effort. There is no success story in history like the growth of
the transportation industry and global business. No other invention has
changed the world like flight. And no corporate function can stimulate growth
like business travel."
