Alexandria, VA (Oct. 22) -- Nadine Dewart, EMEA Travel Manager for BMC Software; Bernd
Burkhardt, Travel Manager for DaimlerChrysler AG; Margaret Moynihan, Director, Global Conference/
Travel Groups for Deloitte & Touche; and Mike McMahon, Chief Procurement Officer for Deloitte &
Touche received the Association of Corporate Travel Executives' highest awards for dedication to
the profession and performance within the industry, at ACTE's Global Conference in Dublin, last week.
In a ceremony before 950 delegates from 37 countries, Dewart was recognized for her contributions
to ACTE's international agenda and global educational program. She was presented with the
ACTE President's Award, EMEA region, for "countless hours of volunteer service to the
association -- and ultimately -- the travel management profession." ACTE President Mark Williams
described Dewart as the personification of change and "one who best exemplifies the changing
role of the business travel manager."
Bernd Burkhardt was presented with ACTE's Advancing The Industry Award, EMEA region,
for extraordinary, innovative achievements that have resulted in positive change. Burkhardt
was nominated by TQ3 Travel Solutions for his efforts as the driving force behind a major
reengineering project of DaimlerChrysler's travel management program and for the successful
implementation of an end-to-end business solution. .
The reengineering of the business travel process at DaimlerChrysler, led to improved efficiency
by optimizing some steps and eliminating others. The new business travel process saves 5.4
million euros a year in Germany, whilst the corporate credit card program saves an additional
1.1 million euros a year. Directing the DaimlerChrysler travel volume saves a further 6 million
euros. The total savings each year therefore add up to 12.5 million euros. .
ACTE conferred the title of Distinguished Fellow on Margaret Moynihan and Mike McMahon
for conducting the highest-rated educational session at a previous ACTE Global Conference.
"Procurement and Travel: A Success Story" presented in Las Vegas last spring, received the
greatest number of outstanding reviews of any qualifying educational session.
In addition to honoring the award recipients, ACTE President Mark Williams and Executive
Director Nancy Holtzman thanked the companies of these volunteers for having the foresight
and generosity to support them in their endeavors.
