ACTE
Sets Strategic Course for Education and Membership Programs in
2001
(ALEXANDRIA,
Va., USA, October 22, 2000) The Association of Corporate
Travel Executives (ACTE) has defined a 2001 Global Education program
that focuses on the education needs of senior level business professionals
responsible for travel. Alana Polcyn, ACTE's director of Education
and Greeley Koch, ACTE's vice president of Education facilitated
discussions with an ACTE advisory board to identify the educational
needs of an increasingly sophisticated and international membership.
Polcyn commented, "The advisory board drew a blueprint for ACTE's
2001 education program with the focal point trained on the delivery
of content by leading business authorities from the fields of
finance, technology and politics." Polcyn further explained, "The
advisory board told us these external drivers of business travel
today have a way of becoming the internal drivers in 1-2 years."
Koch added, "The advisory board also said that the education program
must be conducive to interaction--sharing of experience and expertise
among peers is a significant learning method in our industry."
The individual events in the ACTE education program for 2001 have
been named "The Executive Forum". Koch feels this designation
more clearly informs a participant of the content each event will
deliver.
Closely tied to the education program, ACTE will initiate a membership
program that centers on enhancing the networking potential within
the ACTE community. Megan Costello, CTC, has recently joined the
Association of Corporate Travel Executives as manager of membership
to develop the strategies and tactics to accomplish this commitment.
In her new position, Megan will support the membership recruitment
which aims to attract the highest level of business professionals
with travel management responsibility, according to Executive
Director Nancy Holtzman. Holtzman, particular recruitment focus
will be given to European professionals from countries underrepresented
within ACTE's membership and also the Asia/Pacific region.
"Megan's international marketing and customer service credentials
along with her travel agent certification will be a real asset
to ACTE as we expand our presence in Asia and elsewhere," commented
Holtzman. Megan will work with ACTE's VP of Membership, the Membership
Committee and Regional Councils to develop membership programs
appropriate for each region of ACTE.
An Alexandria resident, Costello has more than six years of association
management experience, most recently with the International Society
of Performance Improvement and before that, the Electronic Messaging
Association. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University
of Delaware and a master's degree from Western Connecticut State
University.
Founded in 1988, the Association of Corporate Travel Executives
is the only organization wholly dedicated to the science of business
travel management with an international constituency. ACTE membership
totals more than 2,400, including entities in Asia, Europe, Canada
and the United States. The organization is headquartered in Alexandria,
Va., and its web site is www.acte.org.
