ACTE Moves into the "Asia-Pacific Era" with Focus on India

Alexandria, VA United States ( August 23, 2004 ) -- The Asia-Pacific Era has begun, and the Association of Corporate Travel Executives has made its educational debut in India . When hundreds of corporate leaders throughout India joined TQ3 for a critical look at the business travel industry at the end of July, ACTE leadership was called upon to help define the issues. EMEA Regional Chair Nadine Dewart played an integral role in TQ3's mission to place advanced corporate travel management options in the hands of Indian businesses.

"India represents the greatest market potential in the industrialized world today," said Nadine Dewart. "Advanced travel management techniques and support systems will be critical both to companies looking to conduct business in this region, and for Indian businesses looking to sell to the world." She added that India has a unique opportunity to shape evolving infrastructure and corporate culture to meet future demand. "ACTE has considerable expertise in predicting this demand," Dewart said.

While ACTE's educational agenda in India will not be announced until the late fall, the region was heavily represented in the association's recent Asia-Pacific Training Workshop, and commands special attention in the upcoming Global Conference in Stockholm (17-19 October, 2004) "ACTE programs have been very well received in Asia," said association President Garth Jopling . "Our Asia-Pacific Training Workshop was larger than ACTE's first global conference. Our educational staff has already begun evaluating travel management needs in India and is preparing a plan to fill them."

Nadine Dewart spoke in detail on the role of the business travel manager in shaping the industry to meet corporate objectives. She also explained the various stages of industry renewal that occur with each commission cut and advance toward a commission-less environment -- now in the limelight in India.
