Statement of ACTE's Executive Director Nancy Holtzman, regarding the Northwest Airlines Pullback

"The Association of Corporate Travel Executives wouldn't presume to tell a supplier what to charge or how to value their product," said Nancy Holtzman. "But we would be doing our corporate members a great disservice if we failed to mention that trial weather balloons and knee-jerk reactive pricing policies are very disruptive to the industry, costly in their own right, and damaging to the spirit of cooperation.

"This association is committed to providing the dialogue and the forums to prevent the shock of surprise pricing actions," said Holtzman. "While further action taken by another carrier today removes the corporate consumer from the crossfire, it is clearly evident that the GDS model is in flux and that the full impact of deregulation has yet to be felt."
