ACTE Member Carries Association Message To Head Of Department Of Homeland Security -- During Special Ceremony At DCA

Washington, DC (Sept. 3) -- Bruce McIndoe, Chief Executive Officer of iJET Travel Risk Management, carried the Association of Corporate Travel Executive's message of support and concern to Tom Ridge, head of the Department of Homeland Security in a special ceremony at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport today. After two years of research, polling members, and ongoing dialogue with the U.S. government, ACTE stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the Department of Homeland Security for the inauguration of the Registered Traveler program at DCA.

"Our members have been asking for a program like this since 2002," said ACTE President Garth Jopling. "And more than just asking, this association got behind the movement with member-submitted suggestions for structure, procedure, and cost. The Registered Traveler Program has continually ranked as high in importance in a number of ACTE surveys, the last of which included more than 1,000 business travelers from around the country."

ACTE has had the benefit of monthly briefings with the TSA on this program and others for the last year and a half. That dialogue reached a high point in July when the Department of Homeland Security's Assistant Secretary for Policy and Planning C. Stewart Verdery used an ACTE webcast to help introduce the Registered Traveler Program to corporate America.

"And that high-level of mutual cooperation will continue long after today," said Jopling. "ACTE members are foremost among the volunteers participating in this pilot program. ACTE will channel observations and recommendations to the government and to the association's members. This process represents a solid working relationship between government and the business travel industry."

McIndoe is especially suited for involvement with programs of this nature.

With years of experience in intelligence operations and information technology, he is a seasoned expert in travel security, intelligence, and risk management. McIndoe was the founder & CEO of CSSi, an Inc.500 and four-time Washington Technology FAST 50 company that developed intelligence collection and processing systems for various national intelligence organizations.

In addition to being registered as a participant in the Registered Traveler program, he is a member of ACTE's new Traveler Security Task Force. This resource is chartered to monitor developments regarding everything from biometrics to data privacy. It was created by combining two initiative teams, one of which initially focused on the financial impact of passenger security projects, while the other was committed to the Registered Traveler program.

The Association of Corporate Travel Executives was founded as the primary education and research resource for the global business travel management industry. ACTE has 2,500 members in 37 countries.
