ACTE
Accepts Nominations for Officer Positions
(Alexandria,
Virginia, August 6, 2001) - The Association of Corporate Travel
Executives recently announced to members its acceptance of nominations
for the associationÕs officer positions. Intended as the first
step in an initiative to restructure the leadership of ACTE, the
acceptance period for nomination of officer positions runs from
July 15 to September 15, 2001.
The officer
positions open for nomination are:
President - Term: May - December, 2002
P resident - Term: Jan - December, 2003
Treasurer - Term: May, 2002 - December 2003
David Ogilvie,
chairman of the Nomination Committee commented, "The nomination
period officially opened July 15 and we have already received
considerable interest from several highly respected corporate
industry leaders. I encourage any ACTE member interested in leading
the industry by holding one of these prestigious positions to
contact me."
Earlier in
the year, the ACTE Board of Governors launched a self-assessment
program. The goal was to define the ways that would best position
the association for continuing to serve the needs of the members
and the industry in the future. An early result of the exercise
indicated that leadership needed to become more flexible and efficient.
ACTE president
Ron Wagner said, ÒThis leaner leadership structure for ACTE
is the result of the demanding times we live in. Individual business
requirements leave us, as leaders, with less time to support the
industry at large. ACTE's new leadership structure will allow
industry professionals to contribute and lead with greater impact
and less consumption of their time."
ACTE's leadership
restructuring will result in new by-laws, a board-driven strategic
planning process, a more global and smaller board, and fewer officers
positions and standing committees. These actions will increase
the focus on ad-hoc committees and an improved volunteer program.
The ACTE
Board of Governors appointed a Task Force to implement leadership
transition under the direction of Colleen Guhin, global travel
manager for ON Semiconductor. Other Task Force members are:
Larry Cook,
regional sales director, Midwest Region, Galileo International
Marilyn Clifton, EMEA travel manager, Oracle Corporation
Nancy Holtzman, executive director, ACTE
Cheryl Hutchinson, senior principal, AMS Corporate Travel
David Ogilvie, vice president, Global Corporate Travel, Starwood
Hotels and Resorts
Ron Wagner, president, Western Division, WorldTravel- BTI
