Singapore, 7 July 2004 - The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) is raising all the hottest issues facing corporate managers, travel management companies and suppliers in the business travel industry and more importantly providing a platform for their resolution at the 2004 Asia-Pacific Training Workshop. Attendees to the August 18-19, 2004 event will find trends and issues currently rising to the surface--as well as those whose impact has already been felt in the region--addressed by leaders and practitioners of business travel management.

Mike Bezer, Regional Chair for ACTE in Asia-Pacific said, "We cannot afford to remain indifferent to these developments, even if they haven't yet become real issues for us in this region. Touchless technology is just one example of a development that may present itself as an immediate opportunity for managing travel in Asia-Pacific tomorrow or data privacy may become a new legal issue next week in some markets. The opportunity we have here is the possible foresight of how these may affect us when they occur and the time to take proactive measures in finding creative solutions."

Breakout sessions at the workshop will address topics such as:

  • How airlines yield management programmes affect your air programmes
  • Developing process and policy guidelines for crisis management
  • Managed travel in emerging markets: China and India
  • Case study from a leading financial corporation on what large corporate clients want from its travel partners
  • TMC-Client relationships and the fine balance between cost and service levels
  • Touchless Technology and its impact on business travel management
  • Financial Reporting and the new requirements facing travel managers, and many more
  • Influential keynote speakers will engage in discussions of strategic corporate issues that affect all companies, whether regional or global.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility by "Claire Chiang, Co-Chair National Tripartite Initiative of Corporate Social Responsibility"
  • The Crossroads of CRM and Data Privacy by "Robert Fleming, CEO & Managing Consultant, Peppers & Rogers Group (Asia) "
  • Leadership & Talent in Asia by "Andrew Bell, Asia Pacific Head of Leadership, Talent and Capability, Hewitt Asia Pacific Associates"
The ACTE Training Workshop will also provide a unique clinic focused on the development of creativity facilitated by Dr. Kirpal Singh, a leading proponent of the Basadur Inventory. This session to be held on 18 August and will challenge attendees to shed old thinking methods and replace them with a new process that has delivered exceptional creative thinking abilities to global companies like Pepsi Co, IBM, American Airlines and Canon.

The Asia-Pacific Training Workshop will be held from 18-19 August at the Grand Hyatt Singapore. It offers attendees from the Asia Pacific region the rare opportunity of exceptional education concentrated over two days delivered through three keynotes, twelve breakouts, three roundtable dialogue sessions, a travel technology showcase, a management clinic and superb networking opportunities.
