Announces Presenters for Washington, DC Executive Forum Program
(Alexandria,
Va. June 27, 2001 ) - The Association of Corporate Travel Executives
(ACTE) has announced its lineup of presenters for the upcoming
ACTE Executive Forum in Washington, DC on July 12, 2001. The theme
for the half-day event is "The Global Data Dilemma". Greeley Koch,
ACTE's vice president of education said, "Data is the currency
of the business travel industry and while our need for data increases
continually it is accompanied by a heightened concern for privacy
and the legal /ethical considerations of sharing data." He added,
"This ACTE Executive Forum will provide insight on these issues
from both inside and outside of our industry."
Leading off the program will be a presentation by Dr. Stephen
J. Kobrin, professor of multinational management at The Wharton
School that discusses how the digital revolution impacts data
collection and how that affects privacy. Professor Kobrin will
focus on data privacy as a strategic issue arguing that privacy
policies are becoming critical. The European Union has established
firm regulations on data collection and sharing.
The
ACTE Executive Forum will explore the EU standards and policies
concerning corporate data and personal data usage through a presentation
by Matthew King, first secretary of trade affairs for the European
Commission Delegation.
Barry Lemley, director of emerging markets for ARC, will discuss
the life cycle of travel data and reveal the circuitous path that
it takes when not in our view, where the exit points are, and
new routes it may take in emerging business travel configurations.
