ACTE Offers Volunteers For Testing To TSA In Special Registered Traveler Briefing
Alexandria, VA (March 26, 2004) -- The Association of Corporate Travel Executives today
officially offered volunteers from its membership to participate in the testing of the
TSA's accelerated "registered traveler" program and as a sounding board for other program
aspects such as cost and implementation. The offer was made during a special briefing in
which representatives of the TSA brought ACTE's Executive Director Nancy Holtzman,
Initiative Coordinator Patricia Stack, and the Head of the association's TSA Liaison
Committee Angela Naegele up to speed on the latest program developments.
Points under discussion in today's call included the criteria for testing, the cities in which
testing would take place, and the TSA's proposed scheduled for testing the program this summer.
The primary purpose of today's call was to enable ACTE to alert its members of these developments
” and to activate survey and focus group mechanisms created a year ago, but put on hold.
ACTE leadership has gone on record a number of times citing how the association’s membership is
in favor of a voluntary program that will enable qualified travelers to reduce the time they
spend on airport security lines.
The TSA told ACTE today that the 90-day testing program scheduled for this summer would preclude
any cost to participating traveler volunteers. “Once the appropriate assurances are taken to
safeguard traveler data -- and any conflicts with corporate privacy polices are resolved --
volunteers will be able to reduce airport waiting time for 90 days without cost,” said Holtzman.
