ACTE Names Carlson Wagonlit's Mike Bezer as New ASPAC Regional Chair
Alexandria, Va (8 Mar.) -- Mike Bezer, vice president of sales and account
management/Asia-Pacific for Carlson Wagonlit Travel has been named council chair
for the Asia-Pacific Region by the Association of Corporate Travel
Executives. The post is regarded as especially significant as this region represents the
fastest growing market for ACTE and for the business travel industry. Last
year, ACTE's Asia-Pacific Training Workshop was recognized as the association's
third annual global conference after drawing a record crowd.
"I am honoured to accept this role and am very much looking forward to
contributing to the ongoing development of travel management in Asia Pacific by
building on the success the Association has already achieved," said Bezer.
A 25-year veteran of the business travel industry, Bezer has held a number of
positions in sales, account management and operations with Thomas Cook,
British Airways, and American Express. He joined Carlson Wagonlit Travel in 1996 to
manage their relationship with BP in over 45 countries. Prior to assuming his
current role in March of 2003, Bezer served as vice president of account
management EMEA, and was responsible for managing an international team which
orchestrated numerous major consolidations.
As chairman, Mike will be involved in defining annual education program
objectives for the region and ensuring that relevant topics are addressed at
executive forums and the annual training workshop. He will actively network with
other corporate travel professionals regarding industry issues, future
direction, and advancing the business travel professional.
"Mike Bezer is the personification of the drive behind the travel movement in
Asia," said Garth Jopling, ACTE president. "His insight into the region's
business protocols, trends, and developing issues will be a great asset to this
association."
Jopling also recognized David Pettigrew, the former Asia-Pacific regional
chair for his contribution of time and effort to establishing ACTE educational
programs as the industry standard in the region.
