ASPAC Companies Seek Better Security for Business Travel
The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) will tackle
a major concern among companies’ senior management and business
travellers at its Singapore Executive Forum on 28 February. Security
and safety for the business traveller has always been a consideration
in the policy books of companies but never has it been as vital
than in current times. The prospects of an international military
conflict and increasing acts of terrorism are forcing many companies
to revisit their travel policies with an objective of securing
the safety of their travelling executives.
Experts in the field of risk analysis, crisis management and
emergency medical & evacuation at this forum will present
both preventive and reactive measures that companies and their
travellers can take to deal with these threats. The panel includes
veteran practitioners from Control-Risks Group, International
SOS and Hill Associates.
The current attention seems focused on air travel but safety
can be compromised at numerous points in time on a business trip.
Diana Ee-Tan, Senior Vice-President, Raffles International Hotels
& Resorts added,” Hotel managers have always considered
the safety and security of guests to be of paramount importance.
With the recent heightened geo-political tensions and threats
of terrorism, hotels have revisited their safety measures, as
well as crisis management and emergency procedures such as fire
drills and evacuation exercises. In addition, hotels have stepped
up vigilance, to be on the alert with respect to suspicious characters
or unattended packages. These measures are part and parcel of
being good and responsible hotel managers.”
Precautionary action is also critical to eliminate security breaches
in pre-trip processes such as the leak of information regarding
intended travel via the IT-related travel tools, which are becoming
common among companies pushing for greater efficiencies.
ACTE is proud to present these events as part of its mission
to advance
the industry with the support of its regional sponsors Abacus
International, Business Travel International and Raffles International
Hotels & Resorts. The official venue for this executive forum
is the Raffles City Convention Centre in Singapore. For more information
