ACTE Press Release

Immediate Release!

The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) will inaugurate its global education series

(Alexandria, Va., January 2, 2001)--The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) will inaugurate its global education series--ACTE Executive Forum--for the year 2001 in New York City on January 16 with a full agenda devoted to the topic of IATA codes and the tangential issues of corporate security and privacy and data ownership. This event is described by Greeley Koch, vice president of education with the association, as the opportunity for a full and public airing of the IATA code issue with input and discussion from all parties involved--IATA, airlines, corporate security administration and corporate travel management.

ACTE has recently undertaken a survey among its membership to measure the areas of greatest concern related to implementation of IATA codes and its membership's leanings on whether this proposal should go forward. According to president of ACTE Ron Wagner, "The early results of the survey indicate that 73% of ACTE members responding to the survey just don't have enough information to take a position on this issue--and that percentage is consistent within ACTE's regions of Asia/Pacific, Canada, EMEA and US." He added, "The IATA codes proposal goes beyond description as a corporate travel management issue and has become a corporate security issue. It is incumbent on ACTE as an association dedicated to supporting the professionals who practice business travel management, to provide an opportunity for our members to become informed so they may make knowledgeable decisions and recommendations for their companies."

Representing IATA at the ACTE Executive Forum event will be Mike Muller, assistant director, Passenger Services at IATA. Rounding out the slate of presenters will be Lorrie Cranor, senior technical staff, Secure Systems Research, AT&T; Labs; Frans Allaert, manager, IATA and Industry Affairs, KLM and chairman, CCIS User Group; Inger Erdegren, manager, Corporate and Agency Programme, SAS; Earl Foster, director, Global Travel Management, Vivendi International.

The Executive Forum will be held at the New York Hilton from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more information please go to www.acte.org or contact Kate Farrell, manager of Marketing at 1-732-283-2826.

Founded in 1988, the Association of Corporate Travel Executives is the only organization wholly dedicated to the science of business travel management with an international constituency. ACTE membership totals more than 2,400, including entities in Asia, Europe, Canada and the United States. The organization is headquartered in Alexandria, Va., and its web site is www.acte.org.
