Position: Regional Director, Canada

Part-Time Position
Overview:
ACTE seeks to independently contract an experienced senior travel executive to manage and grow ACTE in the Canada region, serving as Regional Director, Canada. This Regional Director, Canada will report directly to the ACTE Headquarters Senior Director, Membership & Marketing, coordinate regional efforts with ACTE Canada leaders as well as with other various headquarter departments. The Regional Director, Canada will be expected to work independently and in co-operation with the ACTE Canada volunteer leadership.
General Requirements
- All services delivered on behalf of ACTE will be provided in a professional, competent, high quality, timely manner Ð as defined by ACTE and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- May not represent any other competitive industry organization while working for ACTE.
- Attends both ACTE Global Conferences and all ACTE Canada Regional events.
- Responsible for projects as assigned by ACTE's Executive Director and/or Senior Director of Membership & Marketing
- Record and publish minutes for all ACTE Canada Meetings and/or Conference Calls.
- Provides monthly ACTE Canada Regional Activity Reports
- Has the title of Director for marketing purposes, but shall not serve as a corporate director of ACTE
Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Develop and implement regional event/activities plan for 2004 that will cover education, membership, sponsorship, public relations/marketing, volunteer program, and finance.
- Serve as primary staff contact for ACTE Canada members and activities.
- Support ACTE country infrastructure including volunteer champions and Regional Committee members
- Define strategic positioning of ACTE in the Canada region together with the Canadian volunteer leadership.
- Provide support to Executive Director on Canadian specific issues.
- Provide guidance and support to the Regional Council Chair, and volunteer representatives and leaders.
- Apprise the appropriate Staff Directors and ACTE Canada leaders of industry issues and conditions relative to ACTE's goals and objectives in Canada.
- Contribute to the development of strategic plans to meet industry changes in Canada.
Education
- In coordination with identified local/regional Canadian leaders lead educational efforts through program development and speaker solicitation for forums and special events. All education initiatives and programs will adhere to ACTE guidelines and standards and will be subject to the approval by ACTE headquarters Education Department and ACTE Canada leaders.
Membership
- Recruit members with emphasis on corporate travel decision makers
- Ensure membership retention by understanding membership needs and making appropriate recommendations.
- Review ACTE member benefit package and recommend enhancements
- Update and maintain ACTE Canada Membership and prospective membership database
Sponsorship/Advertisers
- Cultivate and manage industry relationships to generate financial support and favourable industry positioning to meet financial and growth targets
PR/Communications
- Support ACTE Canada leaders who represent ACTE to major industry suppliers and trade organizations.
- Maintain a professional relationship with Industry associations in accordance with ACTE Canada leadership and Headquarter staff guidelines.
- Develop articles providing updates on Canadian events and members to be included in the ACTE publications.
- Develop and implement a media communications strategy as directed by the ACTE Senior Director, Membership & Marketing
- Maintain relationships with Canadian publishing companies, publishing monthly magazines and travel industry source books
- Market all ACTE Canada events as directed by the ACTE Senior Director, Membership & Marketing
- Responsible for keeping Canada Regional Page up to date and robust with news from the region - www.acte.org/regions/canada/canada.shtml
Volunteer Program
- In support of ACTE's Global Volunteer Program, actively recruit members to serve as volunteers on a variety of ACTE committees that are both regional and global in focus.
- Continue to develop Country Champion Program
Finance
- Continue to develop and increase revenue streams through advertising, sponsorships, and membership as defined above.
- Ensure financial viability of the ACTE Canada operation in co-operation under the direction of ACTE HQ.
- Develop and implement new revenue channels not included in the 2004 budget.
- Support the Executive Director and Director, Finance with the development and maintenance of the budget
Legal and regulatory oversight
- Appraise the ACTE Canada Council and ACTE's headquarters of relevant industry and regulatory issues
- Ensure ACTE's compliance with local laws and practices through support of professional resources when required.
