Benchmarking: "Comparing your current travel management methods and measurements to determine the best practices that achieve the most effective results" Colleen Guhin, Corporate Travel Manager, Texas Instruments

There are two primary types of benchmarking to determine the effectiveness of the travel system: Metrics Benchmarking and Process Benchmarking. The ACTE Benchmarking Program allows your company to address both.

Metrics:
* Measurements of statistical performance
* Numbers, averages, totals, percentages

Examples:    Average ticket price
                   Cost per mile
                   Supplier market share in major cities
                   Average discount from coach
                   Percentage use of negotiated fares
                   Use of preferred suppliers
                   Telephone answering efficiency
                   Customer satisfaction

Process:
* How travel is managed
* Components of travel management

Examples:    Travel policy
                   Travel agency
                   Management Information
                   Supplier Negotiations
                   Communication and Training
                   Payment and Expense Reporting
                   Group Meeting Planning
                   Travel Management Strategy
