Record Numbers Expected at ACTE Global Berlin Berlin, Germany-- ACTE Global 1997, the annual international conference of the Association of Corporate Travel Executives opened here today to a record attendance of five hundred delegates. The attendance figure represents a twenty-five percent increase over last years conference, with delegates attending from around the world. "The conference planning committee has put together an exciting program this year", commented Mark Williams, Associate Director for Price Waterhouse and co-chair of ACTE Global 1997. "The international roster of speakers is very impressive, including industry experts such as Hanna Murphy of Siemens Corporation, Mike Prado of United Technologies Corporation, Piet Stokman of 3M Company, Peggy Piesik of Microsoft, and Herman Mensink of Philips Electronics N.V." The dynamic educational series will cover topics such as automated expense report management, deregulation and cross border ticketing, distribution, global travel policy development, global negotiations and the European Union. In addition, the conference will present a unique general session entitled, "International Road Warriors - Whats Going on in the Trenches". The session will feature road warriors from Siemens Microelectronics, Hewlett Packard Europe, Deutsche Morgan Grenfell and ABB discussing how business travel affects their jobs, as well as their everyday life. "ACTE Global has built a reputation over the past couple of years as being the premier international industry conference for corporate travel professionals," said Margit Napier of Lufthansa German Airlines and co-chair of ACTE Global 1997. "Of the 500 delegates, 50% are from across Europe. We have delegates attending from 15 countries, including the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, Mexico, Spain, France, Sweden, Singapore and Scotland." Special events designed to promote colleague networking will include an opening reception at the Museum of Transport and Technology, an informal evening at Planet Hollywood Berlin and a closing gala at the Historical Museum of Berlin. The Association of Corporate Travel Executives is a non-profit professional organization comprised of corporate practitioners of travel management techniques and suppliers of business travel services.
