Lauren Reighard
Global Membership Associate
[email protected]
Critical Information: I have worked as the Membership Associate in the Membership and Marketing Department for nearly 6 months. It is my responsibility to process and update membership profiles, assist members with queries and help promote ACTE membership. I also work closely with the Regional Directors to enhance membership retention.
Hometown: Johnstown, PA United States
Favorite ACTE Conference Memory: Well, I really enjoyed my first and so far only conference in Miami Florida. I really like the congenial atmosphere created by our attendees, meeting members and working registration. Our registration team is the best and they are jewels to work with.
How I Affect My “Global Neighborhood”: I volunteer monthly at the United State Holocaust Memorial museum with visitor services and survivor relations. I also have recently started a GMU chapter of STAND, which is the student offshoot of the Genocide Intervention Network. I am an active member of the Rotaract Club of Capital City, which is involved in community service through Food and Friends and Parks and People.
Kate Farrell
Director, Global Education & Programs
[email protected]
Critical Information: In 2008 I will mark my 30th year in the travel industry. Beginning as a reservation’s agent for a new-defunct airline, I moved over to account management for the airline automation product (now called GDS) eventually ending in national accounts and corporate sales with that company, a forerunner of Amadeus in the US. I came to ACTE in 1999 as the Manger of Membership and Marketing and transitioned to Education in 2001. Currently, I am the director of Global Programs. I love in Maine where I enjoy the serenity of being off the beaten track and the natural beauty that surrounds me.
Hometown: Edison, NJ, USA
Favorite ACTE Conference Memory: In the early 90s I was an ACTE member as opposed to a staff member. I attended the February Conference in Nashville at Opryland. I heard Al Gore Sr., a very gracious, elderly gentleman, provide the best piece of advice I ever heard. The advice had been offered to him by Sam Rayburn when Al Gore Sr. first entered the Senate in 1983
How do you affect your global neighborhood: In Maine there is much more focus on the environment than what I previously witnessed in NJ. Most of the communities cannot afford fleets of garbage trucks, so going to the local “transfer station” is an obligatory trip for every household that generates trash. Our town of St George’s recycling program is overseen by a very determined who was previously a high powered lobbyist in DC for environmental causes. She has been largely responsible for St. George’s revenue stream its recycling program which self funds the transfer stations operation. Citizens are voluntarily complaint with 10 or so sort options for plastic and paper. This I just one of the many ways in which living in Maine “forces” one to be conservative in expending natural resources and the environment.
Teresa Mueller
Senior Director, Global Finance
[email protected]
Critical Information: After being in Houston, Texas for more than 30 years, my husband was transferred to Washington, DC, and I needed to look for a new position in the accounting field. I joined ACTE in April 2007 as the Finance Director. This position is responsible for all day to day financial activities within ACTE. These activities include A/R, A/P, Payroll, accounting, financial reporting, preparations of financials and budgets, seeking operational improvement, maintaining relationships with financial institutions, overseeing financial and accounting system controls and standards, and contributing to overall organizational planning, policy development and implementation.
Hometown: Balboa, Canal Zone, Republic of Panama
Favorite ACTE conference memory: I have only been to the Miami conference to date. I enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. Witnessing the interaction in various sessions, breakouts and the Solution Showcase added a lot of excitement to the event.
How you affect your global neighborhood? I first joined Rotary International, March 1988, in Houston, TX and was among the first women in Rotary. Locally through Rotary I have distributed food to the needed, immunized students, worked on Habitat homes, helped flood victims with food and housing, operated an adult learning center, built a children’s neighborhood playground, and collected toys and gifts for the holiday season, and built art sculptures out of food. Internationally I have help in providing a dental clinic in Brazil, homes and a school to orphaned kids in Nicaragua, water wells in Pakistan, obtain educational materials for an orphanage in Estonia, helped an orphanage in Mexico obtain much needed bedding supplies, and sent recycled school books to South Africa in shipping containers (the containers were then converted into classrooms).
