  • To explore the benefits and risks of the development and adoption of frequent traveller ID technology in order to reduce security check-in times for frequent travellers.

  • To expedite the approval and implementation of a registered traveller program.

PROGRESS:
  • March 2004 ACTE meets with TSA representatives for Registered Traveller update briefing.
  • March 2004 ACTE conducts 2nd member survey regarding the Registered Traveller program.
  • September 2003 - ACTE begins work with TSA to determine value proposition and conceptual development of a Registered Traveller program.
  • May 2003 - ACTE participates in TSA"s Registered Traveller Program Aviation Stakeholder Meeting.
  • January 2003 - ACTE meets with TSA Registered Travel Program Manager for formal status update.
  • November 2002 - GAO issues report on the Registered Traveller Program Policy and Implementation Issues to U.S. Senate. ACTE listed as key industry stakeholder and contributor to the report.
  • October 2002 - ACTE input sought by GAO for Registered Traveller report to the U.S. Senate.
  • October 2002 - ACTE meets with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to discuss status of the Registered Traveller Program and to share member survey findings.
  • September 2002 - ACTE meets with GAO to review member survey results.
  • September 2002 - ACTE member survey conducted. Survey results provide data to measure the productivity and financial impact of lengthy security check-in procedures. Survey also measures corporations" willingness to fund a registered traveller program and potential price points for participation.
  • August 2002 - ACTE launches Registered Traveller Program "Call to Action" on www.acte.org to encourage members to contact their Congressional representatives asking for support for the program.
  • August 2002 - ACTE is interviewed by the General Accounting Office (GAO) regarding their position and perspectives on a Registered Traveller Program.
