DATA ISSUES TASK FORCE
FOCUS:
- To strive toward universally accepted data standards for communicating and reporting in the business travel management profession.
- To assure usage of data in the business travel industry meets the highest standards of data privacy.
- To assure that regulations impacting the use and transfer of corporate travel data allow for maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
PROGRESS:
- December 2003 - ACTE Global Business Journal features article, entitled, Data Protection: Key to Good Travel Management
- October 2003 - ACTE presents member survey results and analysis in the ACTE Global Business Journal. Article titled 'Data Management and European Protection Legislation'.
- October 2003 - ACTE presents member survey results and analysis in the ACTE Global Business Journal
- August 2003 - ACTE conducts survey of European corporate members to measure the impact of EU data privacy regulations of data transfers within the business travel process.
- April 2001 - ACTE appointed by IATA as chair of an Industry Advisory Board to find an industry acceptable proposal concerning corporate client codes. The board directed the efforts of an independent study to review the industry's concerns over IATA Recommendation Practice 1778, commonly known as the corporate client code proposal.
- April 2001 - ACTE Global Conference in Tampa, Florida provides forum for open debate on data ownership. Corporate travel managers, data consolidators, and airlines debated issues of data privacy, standards, and ownership. The forum creates momentum for continued open discussions of key industry data issues.
- January 2001 - ACTE meets with IATA representatives to present views on plans to include corporate client identification codes (CCIS) on the electronic airline reservation record of each business traveler for the purpose of generating reports to the airlines on corporate traveler usage.
- January 2000 - ACTE forms a Data Standards Task Force to develop recommendations for industry data standards.
- November 1999 - ACTE pushes for the acceptance of XML as the basis for the development of international open data standards.
