Changing Management
Toronto
Delta Chelsea
17 November 2005
It's 9:00 am, November 17, and a shift in management begins today. You are taking over the Corporate Travel Manager role, from your spontaneously retiring colleague (the lucky one who just won the lottery). Before your colleague leaves, you spend some debriefing time together and become better acquainted with your new responsibilities. Fortunately for you, this carefully planned day also provides you with expert knowledge shared by airline, ground, hotel and travel management consultants to smooth out the learning curve. And…just when you think you've got a handle on it, an urgent note arrives from the CFO. Your first chance to impress the boss with your brilliance (and a little help from your friends, of course)!
Over lunch, the human resources side of the business emerges as you learn about the talent pool in Canada. It's always good to know where you stand.
Then, armed with your new-found knowledge, you're off to take action and to make policy update recommendations and integrate the latest developments in disaster preparedness. You are well on your way to success in 2006!
At 3:00 p.m., you are ready to call it a day, and head out with your colleagues for a couple of drinks to unwind…just another day at the office.
