ACTE TO LEAD IATA ADVISORY BOARD ON
CORPORATE CLIENT CODES
Board to direct independent study of
industry concerns and recommend solutions
(Tampa,
FL, USA, April 22, 2001)--In a move to find an industry
acceptable proposal concerning corporate client codes
the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has
appointed the Association of Corporate Travel Executives
(ACTE) as chair of an Industry Advisory Board on this
topic. The board will direct and support the efforts
of an independent study to review the industry's concerns
over IATA Recommendation Practice 1778, commonly known
as the corporate client code proposal.
"We heard the concerns voiced by both the corporate
travel and travel management communities at the ACTE
Executive Forum and other meetings held earlier this
year," said Mike Mueller, IATA's assistant director,
Passenger Services. "It is in the spirit of cooperation
and progress among all segments of the travel industry
that this Advisory Board has been created to explore
these issues. "
Ron Wagner, ACTE's president and Nancy Holtzman, ACTE's
Executive Director will co-chair the advisory board.
To assure a balanced perspective the board will include
representatives from various industry segments, airlines,
Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and travel management
companies as well as corporate travel managers. Board
invitations have been extended and announcement of the
members is expected soon.
"ACTE
is pleased to play a role in bringing the industry together
in a constructive forum to work cooperatively and build
toward consensus," commented Wagner. "As our industry
continues to change, naturally more issues will surface.
As the only association representing all segments of
our industry equally, ACTE is well positioned and prepared
to play a role in facilitating discussion, education
and resolution of these issues."
The
advisory board will convene in early May and work towards
an August 1, 2001 deadline for presenting recommended
revisions to corporate client code proposal.
Founded
in 1988, the Association of Corporate Travel Executives
is the only organization wholly dedicated to the science
of business travel management with an international constituency.
ACTE membership totals more than 2,400, including entities
in Asia, Europe, Canada and the United States. The organization
is headquartered in Alexandria, Va., and its web site
is www.acte.org.
