Keynote presentation Practice Safe Data
The presentation will focus on the key issues of data protection, privacy and control.
In an increasingly complex world of procurement, the thirst for data analysis is growing. The move from paper to electronic reporting has driven the introduction of new advances in processing capability and made data more freely available.
With this comes the possible risk of leakage to unauthorised users and the real threat to data privacy and control. The exchange of commercially valuable corporate travel data, if handled responsibly, can result in stronger supplier partnerships, more efficient working arrangements and improved pricing.
This session will explore where the risk to corporate data are and offer suggestions on what a corporate travel manager can do to protect his commercially valuable information in order to ensure buyer leverage is not lost.

Data Protection & Control
This panel discussion will continue the topic of Data Protection and will address any issues in the travel industry related to the transfer of personal data.
Data Protection Laws are national (introduced in the Netherlands on 1
September 2002) but countries inside the European Union must comply
with the European Directive of the European Parliament.
The Act has been designed to protect the privacy of the so
called Data Subject (in principle any living person). The
purpose of the Act is to ensure that personal data which could
be used to identify a living person is kept secure and not divulged
to third parties without the express permission of the individual
otherwise known as the Data Subject.
How do all parties involved in the travel industry ensure this data
protection and deal with it?
Views and perspectives on the topic will be given from all major
data "handlers" from the industry's supply chain. Panel: Jan-Willem Dekker , Vice President Benelux, Carlson Wagonlit

GDS's - Changing Business Models
Global Distribution Systems, created and owned by airlines, have
developed into independent companies: a relationship traditionally
held by travel management companies.
How do GDS's adapt their way of working to new business models? To
what extent will these systems be impacted by rules and regulation
from the DOT and EU? Are they truly global, and to what extent can
and will they incorporate the Internet? Understand their business
model and revenue streams.
As distribution and procurement overall is constantly changing should
corporate travellers have a direct relationship? What value
proposition do GDS's bring to corporate travel management? To what
extent can the systems support the introduction and deployment of
E-booking-tools?
These issues will be thoroughly discussed, providing inside
information to help anticipate new developments and facilitate the
decision-making process.
Panel: Peter Dennis, Head of Corporate Travel Sales, Worldspan
Peter Bost (moderator),Director International Business Development, ATP Online
Ian Lovelock, Sales Development Director, Galileo International
Luc Pannecoeck, General Manager, Amadeus Benelux

KLM's Survival Strategy: A Vision or A Gamble?
The current airline industry environment is unprecedented and the
revenue environment has permanently changed. This was mainly caused
by the impact of the weak global economy and the continued instability
in the Middle East and subsequent war in Iraq. Travel demand was
impacted further by the outbreak of the SARS virus in March of this
year.
Airlines all over the world are struggling to survive and consolidation
is inevitable. Also KLM has recognized that the
airline's operating model needs structural improvement going forward.
As such, KLM will implement far-reaching measures to achieve the
necessary changes to its cost structure. But also remains committed
to its loyal customers by focusing on the total cost of travel and
will keep responding to corporates' changing demands by adapting its
product- and service model to be ready to meet the challenges of the
future.
Learn from a top senior KLM representative how they anticipate
surviving and sustaining their business and how they see their future
destiny in the airline industry.
