An Open Letter to ACTE Members
March 30, 2006
Dear ACTE Members:
We wanted to ensure that you were aware that ACTE has asked for clarification from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regarding procedures that allegedly allow U.S. passengers to board flights without photo identification. Knowing the procedures and the penalties, if any, may save time and money for business travelers who might normally think they were stranded.
We first learned of passengers boarding flights without identification last week through several ACTE members. We have asked the TSA for a clarification of the identification rules prior to issuing an advisory to our members.
ACTE's questions for TSA include:
- What is the intersection between the "No-Fly" list and issuing a boarding pass?
- Is the passenger required to submit some kind of documentation substantiating lost identification, or is it just a traveler option not to produce I.D.?
- Would this action immediately "red flag" a traveler for future flights?
We will keep you apprised of what we hear back from the TSA.
Sincerely,
Susan Gurley
