2017 Travel Programme CEO Winner

The Travel Programme CEO Award was presented at the London Aviation & Corporate Travel Global Summit, 11-13 October 2017. The winner of the 2017 Travel Programme CEO Award was Darragh Ormsby, Global Travel Manager at Google Inc.

Darragh Ormsby has served as Google’s Global Travel Manager since 2013, where he oversees Google’s travel spend, manages an outsourced operations team, negotiates and maintains relationships with suppliers worldwide and introduces new tools and innovations to support travel goals and policies. His current area of focus is finding methods to reduce friction for Google’s travellers. Previously, Mr. Ormsby worked as a senior credit analyst at Google, as well as various positions at Allied Irish Banks. He holds a degree in commerce and a masters in electronic commerce from NUI Galway.

The ACTE Travel Programme CEO Award is focused on recognizing a corporate travel buyer who demonstrates the empowerment and direction to run their company’s travel programme like a CEO. This includes aligning the goals of the travel programme to the company's goals for better engagement and support of the traveller.

Embraces emerging technology to enhance the effectiveness of their travel programme and/or implements an innovative solution(s) that challenges the norm.

Leverages the elements of traveller centricity to maintain a continuous focus on the traveller experience through engagement and alignment– before, during and after a trip Impact on Company Success Aligns their travel programme to support the desired outcomes of the organization, such as financial performance, talent recruitment & retention, and corporate responsibility.

Gives back to the industry, contributes thought leadership or helps to develop or mentor others in their company or the industry.
