As the new ACTE U.S. Regional Chair I look forward to the year ahead, as do many of my colleagues, with a cautious optimism for what 2009 will bring.
With a new president in office, there is cause for celebration in the United States, yet it is tempered with a realistic vision of the challenges that lie ahead, and the hard work we all must do to succeed during these difficult economic times.
For the business travel industry, companies are looking to effectively manage their travel budgets and are turning to ACTE for leadership and guidance. It is our goal, in 2009, to share our collective expertise at ACTE education events across the country, and to make our member companies stronger, more effective and competitive.
I also will be working with ACTE U.S. Regional Board Member, Bruce Finch, this year to expand ACTE’s presence in the U.S. by filling the roles of Regional Champions with current ACTE members, thereby ensuring that local issues, and voices, are heard.
Some of the goals for the U.S. Regional Champions program are to identify and understand regional market needs, to support local programs, and create and distribute educational materials beneficial to ACTE members.
For any of you interested in becoming a U.S. Regional Champion, one of ACTE’s most vital and important volunteer positions, please contact either myself or Bruce.
ACTE will hold several educational events throughout the U.S. in 2009 – in Boston, Chicago, Miami, Minneapolis, New York and San Francisco. For more information, and to register for any of these events, please go to the ACTE Global Education Calendar on the ACTE website.
Without question, 2009 will be a challenging, yet exciting time for our industry, one filled with opportunity and possibility. As the new ACTE U.S. Regional Chair, I look forward to seeing you at ACTE education events this year.
