It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I step into the role of Regional Chair for the next two years. I would also like to wish Annemarie Reininger well in her new position as ACTE Regional Board Member. With her keen insight and first-class leadership style, Annemarie distinguishes herself as a true role model in the travel industry.
My personal affinity for this industry began more than 15 years ago in the hotel industry. Since then I haven’t looked back. Six years ago I moved into travel management and now manage business development for American Express in Western Canada. I look forward to continuing Annemarie’s great work at ACTE, as well as forging new relationships and different paths as we continue to grow.

While the year ahead is fraught with uncertainty, one thing that will continue to remain constant is the business travel industry’s need for collective learning. By working together we can come up with fresh answers to current challenges. ACTE will continue to provide you with many innovative opportunities to meet, discuss and plan positive solutions for the future. In fact, a number of educational events on the Canadian roster for 2009 are aimed directly at opening up discussions between buyers and suppliers.
Your input into shaping the future of the business travel industry will have a definite impact on whether or not the solutions work for you. As always, ACTE provides the stage for this, not only through its various educational and networking events, but through its open invitation to participate in planning committees. In an increasingly collaborative business world, it is more important than ever to engage in affecting change!
